WordPress Maintenance vs Hosting

Your WP Guy vs WP Engine:

Who Actually Maintains Your Site?

WP Engine is premium managed hosting: fast servers, automatic backups, and infrastructure-level security starting around $30 a month. It does not include a person actively managing your WordPress site, fixing broken plugins, applying updates by hand, or troubleshooting when something breaks. Your WP Guy provides that hands-on management, and hosting is already included.

Both keep a site online. Only one of them has a person actually working on yours.

What WP Engine Actually Offers

WP Engine is a genuine premium hosting platform, not a budget host with a nice logo. Their infrastructure is fast, their uptime is strong, and features like staging environments and automatic daily backups are real and useful. Plans start around $30 a month for a single site, scaling up by visitor limits and site count, with a 99.99% uptime SLA on their higher tiers.

What is not included at any tier: a person who logs into your site, notices an update broke something, and fixes it. That work is either yours, your developer's, or it does not get done. WP Engine also caps monthly visits per plan, charges overage fees past that limit, and restricts a number of plugins outright.

None of that makes WP Engine a bad host. It makes it a host, not a maintenance team.

Where the Gap Shows Up

A plugin update goes out on a Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning, checkout is broken. WP Engine's servers are doing exactly what they are supposed to: running fast, staying online, backing everything up on schedule.

Nobody notices the checkout is broken until a customer complains, unless someone is actually looking at your site and not just your server. That is the part hosting alone was never built to do.

Stop worrying about your website

Every plan is built on the same monitoring foundation. Pick your level of hands-on help.

On every plan, on every site we manage

70+ things watched around the clock, so problems get caught before you notice them

Most site problems start hours before they are visible. That quiet window is where the damage happens, and it is exactly what we watch. Everything here is included on every plan, no upsell:

Attacks and traffic floods spotted within the hour

Updates checked that they did not break anything

Plugin changes flagged twice a day

Your domain settings tracked with 90 days of history

Backups confirmed to actually exist

Crashes caught from inside your site, not guessed at

The same monitoring foundation runs on every tier, including Gold. Nothing critical is locked behind an upsell.
